Advising new admits to HEC

Things are going pretty hectic with the internship and I have made some good progress. Have enough material to have a post on e-mobility and electric vehicles. However, this post is about the new emails I started receiving about advise to new admits to HEC Paris, my B-School - time flies so fast - I was in the same position a year ago and I was very busy networking with a number of alumni from HEC paris. It has been a quick but very fruitful journey. I am waiting to go back to campus to finish the last part of my MBA - the rest of the courses are specialized into Strategy with electives possible to be chosen from Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Finance and General Management. I have been traveling a lot as part of work during my internship but have still maintained a detailed log of my activities which will be useful to future students. Do wait for more updates!

Battery vending machine for long-distance EV rentals?

I was talking to a few of my customers if they will agree to take a hybrid car or an electric car on long distance rental. My study shows that there is little interest, and a deep fear about electric cars losing out power in the middle of nowhere and with the current charging infrastrure, it is uncertain if people will have easy access (and quick access) to such charging stations. The scenario for a hybrid car though is quite better because one always has the option of switching over to a conventional engine mode in case the battery is discharged.
I was thinking of a solution and I was reminded of the very old days when horse-driven coaches used to change horses at regular intervals and the passengers continued their journey almost uninteruppted. Using the same analogy in this case, there are options that the discharged battery of the car can be replaced with a charged one, at the nearest gas station (much like refuelling the car) for a fee.

However, I perceive two issues with this solution. First of all, the idea is not a great one for technology wary customers (and this varies based on age and gender of the customer). Will you be comfortable in switching a high voltage (compared to general equipments we use, the battery is of course of higher energy rating)? What if something goes wrong? What if it is raining (like today in Brussels!)? Secondly, the battery of a car (or any other vehicle) is not lightweight. It is heavy. What if you dropped it? On your feet?

Updated site but…

Well, sat down a few hours to update my site and the blog page. Unfortunately, I lost some of my previous blog entries done in the last couple of months. However, I have the back-up files and will soon restore those posts too.

The site has now a store (Amazon) in which I am listing some stuff that are needed by business persons in their daily life, and as well by newbie startup folks. I will keep updating the contents of the store. Feel free to let me know if you have any remarks on that.
By tomorrow, I plan to post a profile update on the site. I will also reorganize the categories of posts for the readers.
Well, It is 01h38 now and I need to be in office tomorrow at 07h00. All the best to me!

Sustainability is primarily 'long term profitability'. Norway's former prime minister, Gro Harlem Brundtland, in 1987 had mentioned the term for the first time in a UN report. He defined sustainable development as “meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.” Please read the full article on McKinsey Quaterly for more insights.
